Grantham Foodbank are thrilled to share that the Trussell Trust’s entry to the Chelsea Flower Show achieved outstanding success and commendation during this year’s competition.
The Together Garden, designed by the acclaimed landscape design studio Rob Hardy & Co and built by Peter Gregory Landscapes, highlights the power of communities working together.
Not only did this garden mark the Trussell Trust’s debut at the country’s most prestigious horticultural event, but it also took home three prestigious awards:
- Gold Medal Winner
- People’s Choice Award for Best Small Show Garden
- Best Construction Award
This garden is far more than a display of beautiful planting and interlocking paving; it is a living symbol of solidarity across the food bank network and within our local communities.
Emma Revie, Co-Chief Executive of the Trussell Trust, noted the garden “celebrates the power of communities working together”, from the volunteers who pack food parcels to the local businesses and individuals who support one another.
The Together Garden serves as a gentle reminder that change is possible when we all come together. Every inch of the garden tells a story about hunger, community, and hope.
As Ursula Doherty, Manager at Strabane Foodbank, said, “Our community holds each of us in its arms when we need help… The garden reflects that spirit, with diverse and unexpected planting combinations coming together to create something beautiful and hopeful.”
And while the garden celebrates the resilience of local communities coming together to support one another, the reality remains that more than 14 million people in the UK currently face hunger.
If you would like to support the work of Grantham Foodbank, please consider making a donation. Your contribution helps us provide emergency food parcels, vital support services, and hope to the people who turn to our food bank in times of need.
